Accès : entrée de Crawford Notch. Dès que vous passez la station Crawford Depot à droite et le lac Saco à gauche, garez-vous sur le parking au début du sentier à droite.
Boucle d'environ 10,5 km.
Suivez les indications pour le sentier Webster-Jackson Trail.
À 160 mètres, une pancarte indique un petit sentier sur la droite pour rejoindre la paroi rocheuse de Elephant Head. Ce petit détour de 1 km aller-retour offre une très belle vue ! Revenez ensuite sur le sentier Webster-Jackson Trail et continuez votre chemin.
A 1 km un petit sentier sur la droite permet de se rendre à Budge Cliff offrant un point de vue exceptionnel sur Crawford Notch. Revenez ensuite sur le sentier principal pour continuez votre chemin.
Vous longerez ensuite la magnifique cascade du ruisseau Elephant Head Brook avec un bassin d'eau. Le sentier étroit est typique des terrains du New Hampshire, soit parsemée de rochers à gravir sous un couvert forestier mixte. Le dénivelé sera plus doux au départ jusqu'au km 2,2 où il y aura l'intersection menant soit vers Jackson ou Webster. Peu importe le sentier choisi, l'ascension sera plus raide et soutenue jusqu'au sommet et vous remarquerez que le couvert forestier sera davantage composé de conifères. A quelques endroits, l'usage de vos mains sera nécessaire pour gravir certaines portions. Le sentier "Webster Cliff Trail" entre les 2 sommets est plutôt facile et sans difficulté technique particulière.
La vue des 2 sommets dénudés est impressionnante et à 360 degrés ! Avec mon amoureux, nous avons eu la chance d'observer un magnifique sundog et un undercast entourant le mont Washington et les sommets sud de la chaîne présidentiel et surplombant Crawford's Notch. En effet, en regardant vers le Nord, vous apercevrez les monts Pierce, Eisenhower, Monroe et Washington. Vers l'Est, on peut distinguer très facilement la paroi rocheuse du petit mont Willard.
Quel spectacle !
Une belle randonnée quand le temps est limité et qu'on se cherche un beau défi physique.

Access : entrance to Crawford Notch. As soon as you pass Crawford Depot station on the right and Saco Lake on the left, park in the parking lot at the trailhead on the right.
Loop of approximately 10.5 km.
Follow the signs for the Webster-Jackson Trail.
At 160 meters, a sign indicates a small path on the right to join the rock face of Elephant Head. This small detour of 1 km round trip offers a very beautiful view! Then return to the Webster-Jackson Trail and continue on your way.
After 1 km a small path on the right leads to Budge Cliff offering an exceptional view of Crawford Notch. Then come back to the main path to continue on your way.
You will then follow the magnificent Elephant Head Brook waterfall with a water basin. The narrow trail is typical of New Hampshire terrain, either strewn with boulders to climb under mixed forest canopy. The drop will be gentler at the start until km 2.2 where there will be the intersection leading either to Jackson or Webster. No matter which trail you choose, the ascent will be steeper and more sustained to the top and you will notice that the forest canopy will be more coniferous. In some places, the use of your hands will be necessary to climb. The "Webster Cliff Trail" between the 2 summits is rather easy and without particular technical difficulty.
The view of the 2 summits is impressive and 360 degrees! With my sweetheart, we had the chance to observe a magnificent sundog and an undercast surrounding Mount Washington and the southern peaks of the Presidential Range and overlooking Crawford's Notch. Indeed, looking north, you will see the Pierce, Eisenhower, Monroe and Washington mountains. Towards the east, one can very easily distinguish the rock face of the small mountain Willard.
